Do people listen when you talk?
Do they ask for your input, respect your opinion, agree to your requests?
Are you getting the promotions you deserve?
Are you put in charge of projects because you’re known for getting results?
Are you getting paid what you’re worth?
Would you say you have clout?
Clout (the combination of power, influence and authority) is the ability to get things done. This fascinating session reveals
the 10 Behaviors that Undermine Clout – and the 10 Behaviors That Add Clout. Discover why many smart, talented women
aren’t put in positions of power (even though they deserve to be). More importantly, learn what women can do to command
respect from decision-makers, colleagues and clients so they seek you out, have confidence in your ability to produce
quality results in record time, and entrust you with leadership opportunities, major contracts, and international projects.
Examine the skills and tools we need as leaders in our companies to create cultures where
innovation, ingenuity and invention thrive. Learn the secrets to creating the right
environment for your team or organization, regardless of size or industry, so that it not
only embraces, but thrives on the challenges and risks of innovation and change.
Growing businesses need capital to succeed. Our experts will discuss the factors that are
the most important to banks, seed round investors and government agencies when
evaluating your business for outside funding. Join us to learn how you can best prepare
your business to overcome any obstacles ahead. Bring your questions for our experts!
What are the best practices that American companies can use to retain women as they
face an international war for talent? Learn creative approaches in mentoring, flexible work
schedules, and creative talent management to help ensure that your most valued
employees stay, and thrive, in the years ahead
Nominations for the Diamond Leadership Awards were evaluated based on their personal leadership styles
and commitment to developing a culture that engages others through learning, mentorship and
assessment. Judges also weighed candidates based on the nominee’s ability to foster innovative
approaches for attracting, developing and retaining women leaders in the workplace.
So you know how to present – right? How do you progress from good to great
presentations? In this session, you’ll learn some quick tips to spruce up your presentation
skills and to make your PowerPoint slides differentiate you from other presenters.
"In the 2007 Invent Your Future conference, I spoke about ways in which women, particularly, could create and claim more
value in negotiations. Reviewing and building on that talk, this year's session will focus on common myths and
misperceptions that we hold about negotiations. Relying on the results of the latest research, we will explore the ways in
which we handicap our own success in negotiations because of ideas and perspectives that simply are not true. We will
address such issues as (1) who should make the first offer, (2) is honesty the best policy in negotiations, (3) is there room
at the bargaining table for emotions, and (4) my counterpart made me (accept the offer). Throughout the talk, I will provide
participants with alternative strategies that help all of us get (more of) what we want in negotiations."
