Does the thought of working a room make you want to run from the room?  You’re not alone.  Recent studies
show that many professionals dread the “small talk” and socializing that is part of building a business.  The
good news is, you can create a solid network of contacts without chit-chatting, glad-handing and back-slapping.
This refreshing session focuses on how to have meaningful conversations that lead to meaningful connections.
You’ll welcome these integrity-based suggestions that show how to add value to everyone you meet so they like
you, remember you, choose to do business with you and choose to recommend you to others.
Have you always wanted to write a book and just “haven’t had time?”  Books in your head help no one.  Sam, the 15-time
Emcee of the world-renowned Maui Writers Conference and author of such bestsellers as Tongue Fu! and POP!, will
share her best-practice tips for expediting a book that positions you as an in-demand topic expert.   Bring your questions –
whether it’s how to get an agent, whether to self-publish, how to stay on track and finish a book when you’re busy, market
your current book so it breaks out, and how to coin a one-of-a-kind title that helps your book POP! out off the shelf.

Day 1 Agenda
Women continue to be underrepresented in the boardrooms and executive suites of the largest public
companies in California and the US. This lively panel will explore what companies can do to remove barriers to
women’s advancement.  Learn the secrets to showcasing your talents and advancing your own career
Rethinking your priorities? This is the session for you. Based on a one-day Career-Life Planning workshop
Denise offers for corporate women and entrepreneurs, this experiential session will help you create an
actionable set of goals and priorities that will outline a clear path for the year ahead. Two previous workshop
participants will share their own success secrets to creating a life plan that works.
Achieving bottom line results in today’s global companies requires high levels of collaboration among
individuals in diverse functions.  Developing teams of independent individuals often based in multiple locations
and time zones around the world is particularly challenging. Learn effective techniques on how to overcome the
barriers and create highly productive virtual teams.
Every day we hear new stories about the social networking phenomenon and the growth in membership of the
top sites. We’ve asked our panelists to help you demystify the world of social networking and share some
practical examples of ways you can put these sites to work for you – to help you build your brand, find the
perfect hire (or new job), learn about candidates or support a cause you care about.
Mastermind teams have long been identified as one of the key success factors of high achieving business
people. These small groups of like-minded individuals meet monthly for problem solving, brainstorming,
networking, and to share business ideas. Ever wished you had your own ‘personal board of directors’ to
encourage and motivate you as you climb the corporate ladder or build your company? Now you can. We’ll be
starting three Mastermind Teams following the conference that will meet for six months by phone, after an initial
in-person meeting. Conference attendees will receive a 10% discount on participation. Come and learn more
about how a Mastermind Team can help you achieve your dreams.
Hear perspectives on trends and best practices in the rapidly
changing workplace. Learn where companies are headed, where the
opportunities are for women and what strategies will build your value
as an employee.
As women and minorities achieve senior positions within major
businesses they to craft their own authentic forms of leadership.
Where are the new sources of power and influence? What new
forms of leadership release original thinking to drive a business
forward? Where are the big wins in new management styles?
Learn how to exercise power with authenticity.
What's the hard truth? It's that soft skills will make or break your career!
And suffering from the Impostor Syndrome is one soft skill problem that
women often experience, no matter what line of work they are in or how
far up the ladder they climb. This high-energy, experiential workshop
provides insights, strategies, tools, and techniques for conquering the
little voice inside your head that whispers, "Boy, have you just pulled a
fast one on everyone—better hope nobody figures it out!"
Learn about mobile devices in lay(wo)man terms! In this session we will discuss using mobile technology to
maximize your productivity from anywhere. At the conclusion of this session, you will know how to manage your
contacts most effectively; what your options are for mobile scheduling; how to prevent loss of data on mobile
devices; the major differences between Windows Mobile, Blackberry, PalmOS, and iPhone devices; and how to
choose the device that is right for you. Without going into overwhelming technical detail, Leonid will explain what
the capabilities are of standalone devices. He will also touch on the special features that software like Microsoft
Exchange or Blackberry Enterprise Server can unlock. We will conclude with a live demonstration of what a fully
connected device can accomplish. Bring your questions - whether you are shopping for a new device or already
have one which you have questions about.
